the hippest trip in America

Well, we're digging out of the 2010 Snowpocalypse. We're back online. And now, it's time to get back on track with "Soul Train".

During the shoot Time Life's forthcoming "Soul Train" infomercial, we were lucky enough to grab a couple of quick interviews with the legendary Jody Watley, who got her start as a dancer on the show. After a couple of years on it, she was recruited as part of the successful trio, Shalamar, which was signed to Solar Records in Los Angeles. Then she left the group and went on to become one of the biggest, hit making machines of the 80s and early 90s.

Here's part 1 of our exclusive interview.

Additionally, VH1 is going to be premiering their "Soul Train" documentary, "The Hippest Trip In America", very shortly. Here's a short interview with producer, Pearl Jr. from the launch party.

"The Best Of Soul Train" is a 9 DVD collection featuring the best performances from the iconic television show. It will be available from Time Life from March 26. Peace, love and soooooooooul! Dig it.
