simply the best

Tina Turner turns 71 years old this week. Let's celebrate her birthday and her incredible career with three classic recordings.

One of Phil Spector's lesser hits, "River Deep Mountain High" features one of the most passionate vocal performances of Tina's early career.

Here's her cover of the Al Green chestnut, "Let's Stay Together". Produced by Heaven 17, this was the song that started her comeback in the mid 80s.

"What's Love Got To Do With It" solidified Tina's comeback and gave her another signature song. Here's the rarely seen, original, black and white version of the video for it.

birthday legends

This week sees three, legendary singer/songwriters celebrate their birthdays. All three began their esteemed careers in the late 60s. All of them have contributed greatly to American songwriting throughout the years.

Neil Young turns 65 this week. After having success with Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Neil ventured out on his own. Throughout the years, he has also been a voice of the people having been involved in several Farm Aid concerts.

Here's Neil with one of his signature songs, "Heart Of Gold".

As a songwriter and a painter, Joni Mitchell has influenced many artists. Without Joni's incredible talent, people from Annie Lennox to Sarah MacLachlan, Natalie Merchant, Alanis Morissette and many others might not have ever been inspired to become singer/songwriters.

Here's "Help Me", one of Joni's early hits in celebration of her 67th birthday.

Bonnie Raitt raspy voice and rootsy songs first found favor in the late 60s and early 70s. She had a resurgence in the early 90s with the Grammy Award winning album, "Nick Of Time". At 61, Bonnie is still writing and touring.

"I Can't Make You Love Me", a classic, heartbreaking ballad, remains one of her best loved recordings.

wrapping up with Wang Chung

We have gotten to become great friends with Wang Chung. Both Jack Hues and Nick Feldman are terribly charming. Once we started asking questions, we couldn't get them to stop!

Here is the final part of our exclusive three-part interview with them. They talk about their current project, "Abducted By The 80s", as well as future plans.

Don't forget to turn up the volume. We still don't have the technology working quite the way we would like.
